With Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby happening this weekend, it can sometimes be a bit of a struggle to feel apart of these heavily alcohol-based festivities when you are sober. But if I’ve learned anything in the almost 2 years of sobriety is that there are cocktails out there sans alcohol that taste and look even more delicious than the booze-filled ones. So, whether you are off the wagon, preggers, or you just want a nice refreshing drink without the headache the next day, here are my 5 favorite mocktails.

The Mockmosa
For the #BabesWhoBrunch (the non-alc version).
Ingredients
  • 2 parts orange juice
  • 3 parts dry sparkling white grape juice
Directions
In a flute glass, combine orange juice and sparkling white grape juice. Viola!

The Nojito
A spin on your classic mojito, this version is made with brown sugar and alcohol-free rum extract for a sweet kick.
Ingredients
  • 6-8 large or 12 -14 small mint leaves
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 tablespoon rum extract
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 ounces club soda or Sprite
Directions
In a pint glass, muddle mint leaves, lime juice and brown sugar into a thick paste. Fill the glass with ice and add in rum extract. Cover with shaker and shake well. Pour mixture into tall glass and fill with club soda. Garnish with a mint sprig.

The Spoon on the Beach
The PG-version of the Sex on the Beach, this still has all the forbidden fun and naughtiness of its original.
Ingredients
  • 2 ounces cranberry juice
  • 2 ounces grapefruit juice
  • 2 ounces peach nectar
  • 2 ounces 7-up
Directions
In a pint glass, combine cranberry juice, grapefruit juice and peach nectar. Add ice, cover with shaker, and shake well. Pour mixture into a tall glass and top with 7-up. Garnish with a colorful umbrella or cherry and orange.

The Spicy Mockarita
One of my absolute favorite non-alcoholic beverages that is summer perfect for any summer day and especially Cinco de Mayo!
Ingredients
  • 3 slices fresh jalapenos
  • 3 slices fresh ginger
  • 1 chunk fresh grapefruit
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • club soda
  • sprinkle of cayenne pepper
Directions
In a pint glass, muddle jalapenos, ginger, grapefruit, and lemon juice. Fill the glass with ice, cover with shaker, and shake well. Pour mixture into tall glass and fill with club soda. Garnish with sprinkle of cayenne pepper and jalapeno slice.

The Bright-Eyed Mary
The sister to the Mockmosa, this brunch cocktail is for those “hair of the dog” people.
Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 ounces vodka
  • 1/2 cup tomato juice
  • 2 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1-3 dashes Tobasco sauce
  • 4-6 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 ounce horseradish
  • 1 tsp celery salt
  • pinch of salt and pepper
  • celery stick
  • lemon wedge
  • 3 green olives
Directions
In a pint glass, combine first 7 ingredients. Fill the glass with ice, cover with shaker, and shake well. Pour mixture into tall glass and garnish with celery stick, lemon wedge and olives.
