Are you looking for a fun, clean, safe yet affordable vacation or staycation? One of my favorite go-tos is IHG Hotels & Resorts, which has a variety of familiar brands, such as Holiday Inn, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts and Hotel Indigo. I was invited to stay at an IHG property nearby, a Candlewood Suites hotel near the Miami International Airport. IHG has properties in every major destination. Equally important IHG properties are mindful of the uncertainty and changeability of conditions due to Covid, and have introduced flexible policies for changing or canceling bookings. Since I have traveled the world staying at four and five-star properties, I admit to being a hotel snob, so imagine my shock at loving this property.
First of all, the minute I arrived, I was greeted by the usual lobby team with a warm welcome! Each person was knowledgeable and friendly. They explained that they usually use hospital-grade disinfectants, and now have instituted additional COVID-19 protocols and best practices. I am totally impressed with the cleanliness of this hotel as well as the beauty of the accommodations!
THE ROOMS
Speaking of accommodations, the brand, is all-suites. My suite was equipped with its own kitchen, including a stove, refrigerator and everything necessary to cook. The living room, which doubles as a second bedroom, is super convenient, too. You can go on vacation at a hotel but still not miss any of your home luxuries.
AMENITIES
If you’re ready to leave your suite, head to the gym or outdoor pool! Both are well-maintained and loads of fun. They also have a “Lending Locker” replete with a wide variety of items to borrow from games to jumper cables. You can find whatever you need to borrow and enjoy during your stay. Additionally, you can do your laundry in their state-of-the-art laundry located off the lobby.
FOOD
By now I assume you’ve worked up an appetite. There is Prime 36, a fabulous restaurant on the premises. If you’re not in the mood for a restaurant, there’s also the Outdoor Gazebo Grill. The hotel makes using this space easy too by providing guests with all the utensils and barbecuing equipment necessary. So just bring your meat, fish or fresh veggies and enjoy! Also located in the lobby is the Candlewood Cupboard, a “convenience style” store where you can find beverages, snacks, frozen meals, laundry detergent, you name it. You literally never need to leave if you don’t want to.
As I write this, I again realize that these accommodations, and the beauty, cleanliness and top notch amenities, are superb, and I cannot get over how affordable it is for anyone visiting the area or looking for a staycation. ….. definitely love and recommend this IHG property at Miami International Airport!
